Q1. What can you infer about the situation of your country？
There are now 85 cases in Ethiopia, which happened recently. It is not too much, but we have done nucleic acid detection to the people who are from abroad and made them to be quarantined.
Q2. What you would say to residents in your country, including your family, your friends and your children?
The principle of my life is I prefer inside out rather than outside in. For example, your body temperature won’t have too many changes even if the time is changing rapidly. What I mean is you need to and you always need to have a balance in and outside your body. So, my advice for my family and my friends is you have to follow what we know. There is information which is mentioned by WHO. We have to strictly follow that formation. We need to also show our knowledge.
Q3. How was your quarantine life?
It’s a different situation now. I used to go to the gym but now I’m not going to the gym, so I have to find other ways to exercise in my house. There are a lot of differences. There is a possibility of things to change but we have to adjust ourselves immediately accordingly. Initially, I was worried but this time is not that much of concerns because I have adjusted myself to this experience.
Q4. What is your protection of prevention like? When do you wear a mask? Do you wear gloves or protective clothing or goggles?
When I go out from my house, I was wearing a mask. However, when I was in my house, I was just washing my hands, which is mentioned by WHO, I have said before. I was not meeting anyone or going somewhere, so I don’t have those instruments. When I have to go somewhere which is crowded, I would wear mask and gloves.
Q5. What do you think about online teaching comparing to face to face courses?
For me, there are no such differences. As long as we are in international school, where the students are approaching and learning by themselves. So whether it is online or offline, it does not matter. But sometimes for chemistry, like you were watching videos, writing report, you should do experiment by yourself. The area which I was not happy was practical work.
Q6. What do you think Chemistry can make contributions to this time’s epidemic?
It is about observation. Chemistry is the science of analyzing and doing research. If we are good at observation, we can see what changes are going on now. Scientists are looking for the source of virus is significant so that next time we can prevent epidemic like this. So in real lives, we need to watch out everything.
